Minutes of Last Board Meeting

Date: July 27, 2005

In attendance:

  • Jose Capistrano
  • Connie Clark
  • Stacey Davidson
  • Santiago Cabrera
  • Lisa Dillahunty
  • Shannon Pekary

Board status:

  • Jose Capistrano is now the Assistant Regional Commissioner and will be helping me and learning from me the administrative details of running the region.
  • We have many new board members, which is great. However, the new ones were not able to make the meeting, or did not respond back to the invitation. New board members, please contact me with dates and times when you can meet to learn about AYSO and go over your specific job tasks. You are very important to us!
  • Leo is stepping down as Safety Commissioner. Lisa Dillahunty is considering taking over the position.

Registration:

We have about 170 kids signed up so far. We usually double in size, so we will likely be at around 340 kids by mid-season. Here is what the teams and signups look like so far:

Some notes on the above:

We are very short on girls. In particular, we do not have enough for a U14 or U16 team. Also, we have so few U8s that we will have to either delay or cancel that age group for girls. Also, the U12G team is full. Since it is playing in another league, and we will likely not be able to put together another team before that league starts, we will have to wait-list all future U12G players.

We are not forming U6 teams this year, but rather are going to use the new U5/U6 guidlines that will help turn parents into coaches and refs.

The next registration will be Saturday August 27th, from 10am - 12 noon at Free At Last on Bay road. Details and flyers are available at http://www.ravenswoodayso.org. Click on the Fall Registration link. Please print some flyers and give them to your neighbors and post near your house.

Pictures:

Lisa will take care of at least scheduling the picture day. We will need other people to run it.

Coaches:

  • - Raul, the coaching coordinator, could not make the meeting, but I met with him the next day.
  • - We are very short on coaches for the girls teams. We need lots more coaches for the girls.
  • - Coaching training will be August 13 and 14th at Cesar Chavez from 8 am - 4 pm. All coaches should come on the 13th, but only U14 and above coaches need to come also on the 14th.
  • - The coaches meeting where we pass out rosters, uniforms and equipment will be Tuesday night, August 30, from 7 - 9. Raul and I thought it important to have it after the registration so that we can incorporate the new players into the teams.

Referees:

  • - Looks like we have a good number of refs signed up.
  • - Santiago will be organizing a referee training on August 20th.

Post meeting note:

Today I tried to reserve the fields. Talk about sad faces. Many school district staff received layoff notices today. I will need to meet with staff next week, but it sounds like they are going to start charging us significant amounts of money to use the field. Hopefully we can make a deal. Pray.
